Motocross
des Nations?
In case you've been under
a rock for say, the last 20 years, you know that the United States
dominates the Motocross des Nations, the Olympics of professional
motocross. And if you know that, then you
also probably know that in the 1990s, that wasn't necessarily the
case. In fact, Team USA went 6-4 in the last decade and broke a
13-year winning streak. But that all changed last year when the team
of Ricky Carmichael, Ryan Hughes and Travis Pastrana brought back
the Chamberlain Trophy back home from St. Jean d’ Angely, France.

World: We would have
kicked your butts!

Our lives most certainly changed
forever after the morning of September 11. The adjustments to the lifestyle of
most Americans is not yet set, but in the short-term, many changes have already
taken place. Foremost to motocross fans is the decision to not send Chevy Trucks
Team USA to defend it's Motocross des Nations title.
The decision was a difficult one,
but it only made sense given the climate of the world at this point. The event
will still go on, but not without the crowd-attracting Team USA, who many were
picking to repeat.
See the news release below about
the decision.

4How Motocross des Nations
is scored
Each country team fields three riders: one riding a 250cc machine, one
riding a 125cc, and a third rider aboard a machine of optional
displacement. Three motos are held, with each team fielding two riders in
each moto. Scoring is done without regard to engine size. Race winners are
awarded one point, second-place two points, and so on. The best five
scores for each team are tallied, and the lowest final team score
determines the winner.
