DAVIS LOOKING GOOD FOR LIMA AMA NATIONAL

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Will Davis comes into this Saturday's Lima, Ohio, race
at the Allen County Fairgrounds Half-mile in a very familiar situation --
he's leading the American Motorcyclist Association Grand National Dirt
Track Series with the first quarter of the season complete. With this
year's tight race, though, the North Carolinian probably won't feel
confident about his chances of winning the title until much later in the
season.

After three victories in six races, Davis, the 1989 Lima winner, leads Rich
King by 15 points. While King continues to improve on the bigger tracks,
he's mainly known as a threat on short tracks and tourist trophy circuits,
of which there are very few left on the schedule. The rider that Davis
really has his eye on is seven-time AMA Grand National Champion Scott Parker.

Parker is right where he's comfortable this time of year, sitting quietly
back in third place in the standings. Parker normally gets hot about this
time of the year, and Lima is one of his favorite places to make his move.
The Michigan rider has won a record six races at the popular half-mile dirt
oval. Parker practically owns the track -- he won the very first national
here in 1984, he owns the single lap and race records, and he has a
two-race winning streak at Lima.

So look for the big battle this weekend to be between Davis and Parker.
Local favorite Steve Morehead, from just down the road in Findlay, Ohio, is
another rider to watch out for at Lima. Morehead won there in 1985 and 1988.

The only other former Lima winner racing Saturday is Ricky Graham, who
began his record-setting run of six consecutive AMA Grand National
victories at Lima in 1993.
