DU QUOIN 50-MILER OVERVIEW

Qualifying will be done through 5-lap heat races. Transfer positions will be determined by the number of entries in each heat race. Riders will draw for starting spots. There will be semi qualifiers run so each rider has two opportunities to make the 18-rider main event.

Pit stops: A maximum of five crew members are allowed over the wall for pit stops. There will be a mandatory yellow flag pit stop on lap 23 when all riders must fall in line behind the pace car for a cool down lap before entering the pits from turn four. The pit stop will be 3 minutes in length and enable teams to change the rear wheel and refuel. After the 3-minute pit stop, riders must proceed to turn one and fall in behind the pace car. Any riders who fails to meet the 3-minute time limit will be scored based on their position and will not be able to restart the race. Positions on pit row will be determined by qualifying finish positions. The winner of the fastest qualifying heat will have the first pit position, or the pit closest to the start/finish line.

Red flag: If a red flag is shown, riders must proceed back to the start/finish line and stop on the front straightaway. Bikes will be placed on stands in single file and riders and tuners will proceed to their designated pit areas. No maintenance can be done on the machines during the red flag. The rider(s) causing the red flag cannot restart the race, but will be rewarded with the proper finishing position earned.

Yellow flag: Any time a yellow flag is shown, riders must immediately slow and fall in line behind the pace car while the Starter and Assistant Starter determine the proper running order. Once the track is clear, all riders will assume a single-file rolling start with no passing until the start/finish line is passed. Any rider who violates the restart procedure will be assessed a one-lap penalty.

In the event the 50-mile race distance is completed under a caution flag, there will be a 3-lap race to the checkered flag.
