- Bentley took his first AMA Pro title, winning the 125cc Western Region Supercross Championship with two wins and two additional podium finishes... Recovery from shoulder surgery after the SX season prevented him from entering the AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championships... Rode for Team Splitfire Kawasaki.

1999 - Bentley suffered a practice crash a week prior to the start of the 1999 Eastern Region 125cc Supercross series, which took him out for the season... He Entered the AMA 125cc Motocross Championship, but broke his arm at the season opener, taking him out of contention for the rest of the series.

1998 - Bentley's best finishes included two fourth-places, at New Orleans and Charlotte, N.C... He entered the season opener of the AMA 125cc Motocross Championship, but sustained a badly broken shoulder and arm, taking him out of contention for the rest of the season... Rode for Team Green Kawasaki.
