AMA Prostar releases 2005 schedule
AMA/Prostar press release
AMA/Prostar is proud to announce our new schedule
for the 2005 season that now includes South Georgia Motorsports
Park in Valdosta, Georgia near the Florida / Georgia Stateline.
By popular demand, we have also held our season to eight
national events and all two-day events, except Cyclefest and the
World Finals to accommodate the majority of the racers.
The
biggest shock to the schedule is the absence of our most famous
spring race at Gainesville. By relocating 90 miles to the
north, we forever guarantee our history of racing the first
weekend of Bikeweek and will be able to take advantage of all
the Bikeweek traffic from I-75 before they reach I-10.
South Georgia Motorsports Park is the newest of the NHRA
sanctioned, state-of-the-art facilities. This brand new facility
was built in the spring of 2004 and will be the future home of a
half-mile paved oval track and motocross. Located in Cecil,
Georgia, the area hotels have reduced their prices insuring an
affordable Prostar event. Also the Valdosta Chamber of Commerce
has made available to Prostar a great new location for the
annual AMA/Prostar banquet. But don’t fret, the same folks who
brought you the excellent food for last year’s banquet will
cater this event as well.
The Norwalk event will now feature a double-header Pro ET points
race. The weekend will be an all motorcycle weekend including
Friday. There will be separate races on Friday and Saturday
including a separate purse, contingencies and points. Pro ET
racers will actually compete for a total of nine races on the
eight race weekend schedule. Pro ET and Sportsman racers will
once again be allowed to drop one race during the season after
the Memphis Blues Nationals. The World Finals will be mandatory
allowing teams to know exactly what they have to do at the World
Finals to secure the championship.
