AMA Pro National Hot Shoe Series
The AMA Pro Racing National Hot Shoe Series serves as a bridge between Amateur flat track racing and the AMA Pro Grand National Championship for aspiring professional motorcycle racers. The series is divided into four classes, the Expert Twins (500cc to 1250cc twin cylinder engines), Expert Singles (450cc single-cylinder production frame machines), Pro Twins (500cc to 1250cc twin cylinder restricted engines) and Pro Singles (450cc single-cylinder production frame machines).

Besides racing for the National Hot Shoe Championship, the events also provide a venue for young professional racers to earn advancement points from the Pro class to Expert status.
The Hot Shoe Expert Twins races also work well for Expert riders looking to try new equipment and supplement their racing income between Grand National events. Many of the top Grand National stars make regular appearances at these highly competitive races. The Harley-Davidson XR-750 is still the favorite mount, but look for teams to be using the series as a proving ground for many more brands including: Suzuki, Triumph, Yamaha, Kawasaki, KTM and BMW.
For the first time, the Expert Singles class will see all the stars aboard 450cc single-cylinder production frame machines. The new production frame rule will see many teams trying to dial in their potent singles for the Grand Nationals. Most manufacturers involved in motocross will also be represented with Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, KTM and Husqvarna among the entries.
The Pro Singles class mirrors the Experts, but with a strong emphasis on the young up and coming rider looking for advancement points. They will be riding the same type of equipment as their Expert counterparts.
Another new class for the 2009 AMA Pro Hot Shoe Championship is the Pro Twins class. The young guns will be riding the same bikes as those in the Expert Twins class, but will be restricted as to their power output. This serves as the opportune place for aspiring flat trackers to get a feel for the twin cylinder monsters.
AMA Pro Racing Hot Shoe races also expose new fans to all the action and drama of AMA Pro Flat Track racing.
Look for Sammy Halbert, Matt Weidman and Jeff Carver to defend their 2008 championships in the Expert Twins, Expert Singles and Pro Singles classes. A first time winner will be crowned in the Pro Twins class.
