Here we were back at it in full swing in Springfield, two and a half months after Daytona. Last year we had an amazing weekend, first winning the Mile and placing 2nd in the TT. I knew that matching those results would not be easy. It was the hottest I have ever been in Springfield... record temperatures added to the mix. » more
The 2012 AMA Pro Flat Track racing season started, as usual, in Savannah, GA. This is probably the best half-mile on the schedule. We started off with an open practice session the night before just to shake down the bikes and test some stuff. It went well for me and I felt good. » more
I was almost unable to make this race due to the weather. We had a lot of snow Thursday night into Friday morning. I was flying out on Friday morning for a race that night -- cutting it close. » more
After the events that transpired at Calistoga, the race for the championship became very tight , with only eight points separating the three leaders. The only thing to do was to go to Pomona with a positive attitude. This was not a type of track in which I have been dominant in the past, but have done reasonably well on this kind of surface. Qualifying did not go well though. I felt OK, but just did not have the times I wanted. » more
I was told this track was small. I didn’t know quite what to expect, but when we arrived, I quickly realized how small it was! When I finally got on the track, it seemed even smaller. I have never run on a track this small before racing a Harley-Davidson XR750. Well I thought, hope for the best. » more
Last year this race was rained out. This year it seemed we would finally get to race as the weather looked good. This track has a lot of history as the site of the Knoxville National Sprint Car races. I was here last year for a small exhibition race and it was packed, so I was excited to come back. » more
Over the years the Short Track has always been pretty tough for me. Going into this weekend I knew it could be almost make or break.... » more
This is a race I have been itching to win for years now.... » more
For it being Arizona it was pretty chilly. Seems the cold weather is following the race circuit. I felt great in practice, was anywhere between 2nd to 4th fastest throughout practice and qualifying. I ended up 3rd overall which was pole in the 3rd Heat race. In the Heat I got the hole shot, but Kenny Coolbeth and Matt Weidman got by me. I returned the favor and started to make a little ground, winning the Heat, putting me in the Dash. I have not won a Dash yet so am still looking for that. I got a good start but Sam got through turns 1 and 2 fast and I couldn't get going fast enough, getting drafted by Coolbeth, finishing 3rd. » more
