"This really is the dream of a lifetime" said Gough. "I have been waiting for years to ride a XR750 at Springfield. When I decided to come over and race the AMA Grand National Series, this was my goal. I really want to thank Hacker for taking me under his wing and helping me out."
Gough and Hacker met a couple of years ago and have formed a strong friendship and feel that on the track they will make a strong team. Hacker brings his years of experience on the Grand National circuit to the table not only to offer advice to Gough, but also to help with tuning and set-up of the motorcycles. "It is going to be really enjoyable helping Luke out on the big tracks. I have seen him ride and ridden with him at various practice events and he is just a naturally gifted rider. He has a great work ethic and is a really quick learner. No predictions of any kind, but I am sure that he will turn a few heads before the weekend at Springfield is all over" said Hacker.
The 2009 GNC Singles season has started well for the Aussie. Gough made the main event the second night at Daytona and qualified really strong both nights. "I was knocked down in my heat race the first night and didn't make the main, but overall I was really happy with how things turned out. It was a great start to the season and I am really excited to be moving on to the first Twins event at Springfield" said Gough. "Having Mike in my corner with his four GNC victories and years of being on the circuit is going to be a real help to my program. He has already taught me tons and I look forward to learning from him all season long."
Luke Gough is a five-time Australian motorcycle champion that began competing in the US full-time in 2008, earning his AMA Pro Flat Track National Number in his first year. Go to Luke's website at www.lukegough.com to learn more about him.
