DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 13, 2013) – Jake Gagne recorded just a single win last season en route to an 11th place finish in the overall GoPro Daytona SportBike point standings. Last season was also Gagne’s first in the class and that lone win came in the second to last event of the season at Homestead-Miami Speedway. This year, with a full year of GoPro Daytona SportBike experience under his belt, the No. 32 RoadRace Factory Yamaha YZF-R6 rider is only three races deep into the 2013 season and already has one win to his credit.
Gagne’s finest performance of the season thus far came during Race 2 at Road America as he outlasted the current GoPro Daytona SportBike points leader to come away with his first victory in 2013. The Californian was more than excited to get that first win out of the way early on.
“My team and I just want to keep the ball rolling for as long as possible,” said Gagne. “Obviously it feels great to get that first win out of the way. The top of the podium is exactly what we’re shooting for every time we gear up for a race. This year has started off way better than last season and I think it’s a combination of experience, my motorcycle, and the great paddock we have with RoadRace Factory.”
Gagne’s teammate, JD Beach has also caught fire early this season as he currently sits in fourth in the GoPro Daytona SportBike point standings. The two are obviously feeding off each other’s success and have proven to be a lethal duo on the weekends.
Next round’s action takes place at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL. for the Triumph Superbike Classic presented by America’s First Federal Credit Union and is set to take place on June 21-23.
