September 11, 2013 - National Guard Celtic Racing returns to New Jersey Motorsports Park this weekend for the penultimate event of the 2013 AMA Pro Road Racing season. In the SuperSport class, Corey Alexander leads the East division championship by nine points over his rivals, with two wins and four podium finishes so far this season. There is certainly a great deal of pressure for Alexander to perform from the moment the tire warmers come off. In Daytona Sport Bike, James Rispoli has had a very consistent season and sits in sixth place overall, within three points of fifth. Rispoli has yet to finish outside the top ten, and has worked hard to improve his results and position in the championship standings. The team also welcomes Caroline Olsen to New Jersey Motorsports Park, where she will be signing autographs and providing encouragement and support to Corey and James over the weekend.
2013 marks the fifth consecutive season the AMA Pro Road Racing series has visited New Jersey Motorsports Park. Located in southern New Jersey, the Thunderbolt circuit at New Jersey Motorsports Park is a 14 turn, 2.25 mile long thriller that challenges the racers and excites the spectators.
Corey Alexander finished a strong fourth in his last professional race at New Jersey Motorsports Park, and has a great deal of laps under his belt there. Corey will ride his #5 National Guard Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600 with every ounce of speed he can muster to secure the SuperSport East championship. Corey said enthusiastically that "I'm extremely excited to return to New Jersey Motorsports Park for my home race this weekend. Jersey has always been a good track for me since my career began, and I always hope to do better there. Hopefully this year we will get up on the podium where we need to be to bring home this championship. I know everyone will be bringing their A-game but I think our National Guard Celtic Racing team has what it takes to bring home the title! I'm very eager for the weekend to begin, and I am trying to go into it with an open mind. Thanks to all of my personal sponsors: Arai Helmets, Spidi Leathers, XPD Boots, AMMO NYC, Hudson Valley Motorcycles, and MJRS Freeman Racing for all their support. I look forward to seeing all of my family and friends out at the track."
James Rispoli will ride his #43 National Guard Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600 in the Daytona Sport Bike class, and hopes to mirror his results from 2012 where he won SuperSport race one, and took second in race two after starting from second on the grid. Rispoli is stoked for the race at New Jersey Motorsports Park, and as the previous year's results have shown, he knows his way around the Thunderbolt circuit. Rispoli stated that "I'm really excited to get back racing. I am also thrilled to be going to one of my favorite tracks; I have had really good success at New Jersey and I feel really confident. My Celtic Racing team has been working around the clock trying to sort through some ideas. We are ready to put the fight on and get to the front." Rispoli's personal sponsors include AGV Helmets, Dainese Leathers, Monster Energy, Spider Grips, and Techmounts.
Caroline Olsen is still recovering from injuries suffered at Road America earlier this season, but has been making steady progress. Caroline will join the Celtic Racing team for the weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park, but will not be riding at this event. Caroline has been working with sports medicine doctors in Norway and consulting regularly with Dr. Ting in California. Caroline has been very moved with the outpouring of support from fans around the world and can't wait to get back on the bike and start racing again soon. "I'm looking forward to joining the team again at New Jersey, even though I'm still stuck at the sideline. My shoulder is getting better every day, but it will still be a couple of months before I can be back on my motorcycle. In the meantime, I'll do my best to support James and Corey. I think they will do great this weekend, and I'm really looking forward to see them race again. I have to thank my family, sponsors and team for their continuing support, it really means a lot!"
