American Honda announces Honda Red Riders Jr. Supermoto Challenge

Honda press release

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. announced today a new support class to be run in conjunction with the AMA Red Bull Supermoto Championship.

The Honda Riders Club of America will present the Honda Red Riders Jr. Supermoto Challenge. The series will consist of six events coinciding with select AMA Red Bull Supermoto Championship races. Each event in the series will have a riders meeting, one practice session, a heat race and a main event. The top three finishers in the first five rounds will compete at the grand finale in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Participants will compete on identically prepared 2003 CRF150F's provided by American Honda. Additional series sponsors include Alpinestars, who will provide custom made leathers for competitors to use at each round, Dunlop, who will provide tires, White Brothers (exhaust components), and Renthal (handlebars).

"We are thrilled to be a part of Supermoto," said Ray Blank, Vice President of the Motorcycle Division at American Honda. "This is a great way to get youth involved in the sport in a professional, controlled atmosphere. I can't think of a better-qualified group than Danny Walker and his American Supercamp staff to help these young racers get acquainted with the CRF150F and Supermoto racing."

To be eligible, riders must be 12 to 15 years old, be a current AMA member and have a grade average of B or better in school. Each potential rider must submit a resume, a current report card and a letter explaining why they should be accepted, what their racing goals are and how they plan to achieve them.

The program will be administered by American Supercamp and applications can be submitted via the web at www.americansupercamp.com; by fax at (970) 674-9433, Attn: Honda Jr. Supermoto Challenge; or by mail to:

American Supercamp
Attn: Honda Jr. Super Moto Challenge

Windsor, CO 80550

Only 14 riders per event will be accepted so get your applications in early!
