Las Vegas to host AMA Red Bull Supermoto Championship finale
AMA Pro Racing press release
With the sparkling Las Vegas skyline as a night backdrop,
supermoto racers from all over the globe will converge on the Rio
All-Suite Hotel & Casino on Friday, Nov. 21, for the AMA Red
Bull Supermoto Championship finale. As the season-ending round of
the inaugural series, Red Bull Supermoto A-Go-Go will feature top
finishers from the five qualifying rounds in a winner-take-all
showdown. AMA National Champions will be crowned in two classes --
Supermoto and Supermoto Unlimited. Plus, each class will see the
presentation of a team championship that will go to the teams that
have earned the most points over the course of the season.
AMA Pro Racing's Chris Bradley says the Las Vegas finale will be
the conclusion of a tremendously successful first year. "To
take an all new racing series from scratch and wrap it up with an
event like the Red Bull Supermoto A-Go-Go is quite remarkable,"
said Bradley. "Not only have we witnessed some incredible
racing by some of the very top riders from all over the world, but
we've seen the series grow with its very own television series as
well as major sponsorship and support from top companies in the
motorcycle industry. As we said when we launched the series last
March in Daytona, we set out to change the face of how motorcycle
racing is presented. We're absolutely confident that we've reached
that goal."
Red Bull Supermoto-A-Go-Go will highlight a weekend full of
activities, which culminates with the AMA Pro Racing Awards Banquet
on Saturday night. Activities at the Rio kick off on Thursday
evening (Nov. 20) with rider autograph signings, motocross and
trials demonstrations, and music entertainment. Friday's race day
schedule will also feature a breathtaking exhibition by the Red Bull
Air Force extreme skydiving team. The race will be broadcast live on
the Outdoor Life Network (OLN).
The track will be constructed on the grounds of the Rio All-Suite
Hotel and Casino and feature an entertaining mixture of high-speed
pavement and technical dirt sections. Bradley says the course
make-up over the inaugural season has been one of the series' strong
points. "As we've said all year, supermoto allows us to be very
creative with our track design," stated Bradley. "In our
first year, we've built supermoto tracks in existing race facilities
as well as in downtown, urban settings. It has been our goal to
'bring the racing to the people' and this season-finale at the Rio
is another example of that vision."
