Proposed 2005 AMA Supercross/Motocross, Flat Track rules announced

AMA Pro Racing press release

AMA Pro Racing has announced proposed technical rule changes for the 2005 AMA Supercross Series/AMA Chevrolet Motocross Championship and AMA Progressive Insurance Flat Track Championship. AMA Pro Racing licensed riders and credential holders may comment on proposed rule changes during a 30-day period beginning Saturday, July 31 through Monday, Aug. 30. Comments can be made on AMA Pro Racing’s RIDERS ONLY website at www.amaproracing.com/ridersonly. At the conclusion of the 30-day period, AMA Pro Racing will review submissions prior to forwarding the package to the AMA Pro Racing Board of Directors for ratification.

  • Proposed technical rule changes for the 2005 AMA Supercross Series/AMA Chevrolet Motocross Championship can be viewed at www.USMotocross.com.

  • Proposed technical rule changes for the 2005 AMA Progressive Insurance Flat Track Championship can be viewed at www.1800FlatTrack.com.

Proposed rule changes for AMA Supercross/Motocross includes language to clarify rider eligibility for the 125 Supercross class. Proposed rule changes for AMA Flat Track contains language that empowers the Race Manager to decide the appropriate equipment displacement for a given track. Rules proposals for both disciplines, as well as AMA Superbike which released its 2005 rules on Sunday, July 25, include a rule that requires participants to utilize an approved commercially-manufactured emergency helmet removal device.

Scott Hollingsworth, AMA Pro Racing CEO said that these proposed rules have been developed as a direct result of input made by the advisory boards of each racing series. “With the valuable contributions made in part by our advisory board members we have produced refinements and improvements to the technical rules for each of our disciplines,” said Hollingsworth. “The next step in this important process is to open up the proposed rules to our 30-day comment period. We expect to receive additional insight that will be considered before final rules are sent to the AMA Pro Racing Board of Directors for approval.”
