2005 AMA Hillclimb Championship schedule
announcedAMA Pro Racing press release
AMA Pro Racing has released its schedule for the
2005 AMA Hillclimb Championship presented by Pace American. The
2005 series will consist of 11 rounds, two of which are new
events. The championship kicks off on May 15 with the Iron
Horseman promoted event at Middlebury, Ind., and concludes on
Oct. 9 with the Dayton Motorcycle Club’s Oregonia, Ohio event.
The first of the two new events will be at the
West Virginia Offroad Park in Danville W.Va., on June 19. The
championship’s other new event is scheduled for Aug. 14, in
Bridgeton, Mich.
According to AMA Pro Racing Technical Manager, Rob King,
expectations are high for both of these new events. “The hill at
the West Virginia Offroad is ideal. It’s an approximately 650
foot long groomed run and the facility can easily handle several
thousand spectators. The Aug. 14 event is being promoted by the
Muskegon Motorcycle Club, a longtime AMA Hillclimb promoter, at
their ‘Bridgeton Wall’ hill,” said King. “We’re confident both
of these events will be great additions to the existing
schedule.”
Chad Disbennett won the 800 championship in 2004 and Walter
“Tiger” Strank was the 540 class champion. Both are expected to
return to defend their titles.
