(March 28, 2012) - "Well everyone, we are back from Daytona and the Homestead test and everything went awesome for my first AMA Pro race! My family and I headed down for Daytona on Monday night and got there Tuesday afternoon. We had a good trip and got to hangout by the ocean before the intense weekend at the track. All of my family and a lot of my friends came down to watch my first race at Daytona. The first race with my RidersDiscount Vesrah Suzuki team went awesome and I ended up second by just .032 behind the defending champion! It was special to stand on the Daytona podium in my first race after all the hard work put in over the off-season and my amateur career. The second race didn't go so well, as I had to switch to my back-up bike after a red flag which meant I had to start from the back of the 53 rider grid. I made my way up to fifth and set the fastest time of the race and a new Daytona SuperSport lap record, which was cool. I unfortunately had a mechanical issue that ended my race. All in all, it was a great experience and I was really happy with how I rode and performed during the weekend.

Next, the team and I headed down to Miami and got to test out the Homestead track which we will be racing at in September. The test was on a Tuesday and Wednesday so I headed to the Miami beach on Monday with my teammates which was really fun. It was good to relax and have some down time before the busy schedule the next two days. During the test, I was fastest both days and the fastest overall which was a big boost to my confidence! It was good to get the bike dialed in, get me comfortable on the GSX-R 600, and try some new things before Road Atlanta. I am now preparing myself and working really hard to get ready for the next race in three weeks. I love Road Atlanta and hope to have a successful weekend there and get my first win!

Until next time,

Jake #85
