6TH and 8TH Place Finishes for Vesrah Suzuki in AMA Pro Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL Race 1 at NJMP.

Millville, N.J. (September 4, 2010) - Cory West finished in 6th place today at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, N.J. in the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL Race 1 and ran with the lead group for the entire race distance. Teammate Chris Fillmore was only two places behind Cory in 8th place and ran just off of the lead group. The team will work to improve the set up of the team’s Suzuki GSX-R 600 race bikes for Race 2 tomorrow.

Mark Junge – Team Owner Vesrah Suzuki:
“The team is dedicating this weekend to former crew member Mike Larabee who passed away earlier this week by running “ML” stickers on all of the team bikes. Both Cory and Chris were able to stay with their competitors for the race distance. I’m proud of both of my riders today and I think Mike would have been too.”

Cory West – Vesrah Suzuki No.57:
“We’ve been on the pace from the beginning of the weekend so my confidence was high going into the race. My starts were good and I got into the lead pack right away. I felt very comfortable with the pace and was trying to find places where I was strong. I was lacking grip in the rear towards the very end of the race and that made for some tense moments. It was just too hard to gain any ground on anyone at the end so I had to settle for 6th today. We will try some things in the morning warm up so that we can get on the box tomorrow.”

Chris Fillmore – Vesrah Suzuki No.55:
“Today was a solid start to the weekend with an 8th place finish in Race 1 and I was able to run very close to the leaders today. For tomorrow we know where the bike needs to be improved so if our changes are positive I think we should really be able to mix things up at the front. Big thanks to my mechanics and team for the good result today and I look forward to seeing what Penske can come up with for tomorrow’s race.”
