Johnstown, Ohio (July 1, 2011) After a rough season opener at Daytona , Ryan Kerr and the Ryan Kerr Racing Team were anxious to get back on the track at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala, June 17th – June 19th.

“We began the weekend in 13th position in the AMA Pro SuperSport East Series, says Kerr, and I knew I needed a strong finish at Barber to move up the point’s ladder.” Weather conditions in Alabama limited the amount of practice time on the bike prior to the first qualifying run on Friday. “Qualifying has always been a challenge for me and I’m striving to make improvements in this area. With limited track time prior to my qualifying run I found myself starting the race in 18th position but knew with an aggressive start I could be up with the front runners.”

And an aggressive start is just what Kerr accomplished. Moving from the 18th to the 10th position off the grid he was on his way to a strong finish when a red flag incident caused a race re start. Following the second start, Kerr again positioned himself quickly in 10th and began moving up. “It was a great race and I focused on moving up one rider at a time”.

At the conclusion of Saturday’s race, Kerr impressively finished in 7th place from his original 18th place starting position.

Sunday, Kerr was ready to do it all over again and was focused on an even stronger finish than Saturday. Kerr explains, “I struggled getting off the line on Sunday and found myself mid pack. I worked my way up to a 12th place finish in spite of some overheating issues with my RFC sponsored Kawasaki machine. But overall I’m pleased with the weekend and moving up from 13th to 7th position in the SuperSport East series is positive headway in my chase for the championship.

Ryan Kerr and the Ryan Kerr Racing Team are now focused on preparing for the upcoming race at Mid Ohio Sports Car course July 8 – 10. Kerr is hoping to have a good turnout of fans and promises to give them a good show at his home track. “I invite everyone to come out to Mid Ohio. It’s always a great racing event and I appreciate the support of my family and home town fans.”
