A Weekend of Ups and Downs for Ryan Kerr at Mid-Ohio
NEWS July 13, 2011
Johnstown, Ohio (July 14, 2011) Ryan Kerr and the Ryan Kerr Racing Team rolled into the Mid Ohio Course with high hopes of leading the pack and increasing their points in the Supersport East Coast Series.
Kerr explains, “I had two main goals this weekend, one was to make improvements in my qualifying position and second to end the weekend as a top 5 position holder in the chase for the championship.
At the conclusion of qualifying, Kerr had met his first goal for the weekend and positioned himself with a 6th place starting position. “I was thrilled with my times during the qualifying sessions and anxious to start in the second row at my hometown track.” Saturday was a challenging race and Kerr stuck with the leaders. However, as the laps continued, Kerr began to lose ground and finished the day in 9th position. “The track became slick and I’m not sure that we made the best tire choice for the conditions but a top ten finish still provides me with forward progress in the points series.”
Kerr was hopeful that Sunday would be a better day. Off the grid, Kerr was slammed from behind but maintained control. He began to work his way through the pack when an engine failure finished his day at lap 3. A disappointed Kerr says, “It was a heartbreaking way to finish the day at my hometown track with many fans in attendance. But I want to assure my fans that the Ryan Kerr Racing Team has begun the engine repair process and will be a top competitor at the next race. Finally, Ryan Kerr and the Ryan Kerr Racing Team want to give a special thanks to family for all of their efforts on making this a special event and to his many fans for coming out and supporting him.
