(March 14, 2012) - Reigning DAYTONA® 200 Champion Jason DiSalvo of Trussville, Ala. and Stafford, N.Y. will again enter the most prestigious motorcycle race of the season at The Daytona International Speedway, the world center of racing. This will be the 71st running of the most sought after win in the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike Championship. With last year’s win aboard the Ducati 848EVO, Jason brought to Ducati its first win in this prestigious event. Now aboard a Triumph outfitted to commemorate the late Gary Nixon, Jason will be competing with a paint scheme and leathers featuring Nixon’s #9 which he ran in the late 1960’s and early 70’s. Triumph last won the Daytona 200 in 1967 with Gary Nixon, Multi-Time National Champion, bringing the Triumph to victory.
With race day this coming Saturday, March 17th, Jason strives to set a new record by winning two years in a row on two different motorcycles. Triumph’s tribute to Gary Nixon includes Nixon’s Triumph Triple being on display at the Latus Motors Racing garage.
The schedule for the DAYTONA® 200 Race week begins with practice on Thursday, March 15th, qualifying on Friday, March 16th, and the race on Saturday, March 17th. Live coverage can be found on Speed TV with opening ceremonies beginning at noon and the race starting at 1:00 pm EST.
