TOOELE, Utah (May 25, 2012) – KLR Group rider Kyle Wyman posted the third-fastest time in the first AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 qualifying session Saturday at Miller Motorsports Park as part of BigM Weekend.

Wyman rode the 3.05-mile, 15-turn road course in a time of 2 minutes, 10.940 seconds.

"I felt real good after my qualifying run," Wyman said. "I treated this qualifying like practice to get loosened up since it was raining so hard this morning that I did not get a practice run."

Heavy rains Saturday morning made track conditions difficult, so Wyman and his team decided to skip the opening practice. More rain is in the forecast for Sunday, but it could move out in time for the second qualifying session slated for 4:45 p.m. MDT.

"I'm looking forward to tomorrow," Wyman said, "and I'm really happy that I have another qualifying run."

Wyman was riding with a broken heel suffered on another motorcycle in Atlanta last month. But he showed no ill effects in Utah.

"I'm feeling healthy and the heel is good," Wyman said. "Usually the elevation gets to me but I feel good here in Tooele."

The eight-lap main event is scheduled for Monday at 1:20 p.m. MDT.
