ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (June 3, 2012) – Huntley Nash continued to show progress as the young motorcycle racer had a fantastic weekend in Wisconsin, earning tenth on Saturday after running as high as third and then backing that race up with the closest he’s finished to the front since joining the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike class last year. Nash was seventh in an exciting race that, at one stage, featured nine riders fighting for the victory.
After injuries limited his competitiveness last season, the multi-time AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport race winner began 2012 determined to fight at the front of AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike Nationals. Daytona and Road Atlanta went well, but Nash struggled at Infineon Raceway and in Utah.
Nash qualified eighth for the races and, on Sunday, he was determined to finish inside the top ten and run near the front as long as possible.
“It was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot running with the lead pack for pretty much the whole race for the first time. I’ve never actually been in the lead pack for that long. If we had another day, I think I could have raced with those dudes a bit more,” said Nash. “I didn’t want to mess up ‘the train,’ at all, so I settled in and learned. One thing that stood out to me was how consistent my lap times were. The front tire got chewed pretty good at the end, but I was happy with how it went. The lap times came together for me, and I found out what I needed to work on and where I had advantages, but I definitely think I can run at the front at Barber.”
Nash and LTD Racing will compete next at Barber Motorsports Park June 22-24.
