Cypress, CA (June 20, 2012) – After a couple of weeks off following back-to-back race weekends in Utah and Wisconsin, the Yamaha U.S. Road Racing Teams will be in action again this weekend where they’ll be at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama.

For a few of the teams’ riders, Barber is considered their home track, since the 2.38-mile, 14-turn road course in Birmingham is closest to where they reside. That means there will be lots of family, neighbors, and friends in attendance to root them on to victory.

Coming off his double win at Road America earlier this month, two-time reigning AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike Champion Josh Hayes will be looking to build on the points lead that he currently has in this year’s title chase. Josh, who lives in Gulfport, Mississippi, not far from Birmingham, won the pole last year at Barber and is looking forward to returning to one of his favorite tracks on the AMA Pro Racing schedule.

Josh Herrin, who is currently third in the SuperBike championship in his rookie season aboard the #2 R1, will also be racing not far from his home in Dublin, Georgia. Josh won at Barber last year in Daytona SportBike and climbed one of the track’s catch fences to celebrate his victory by tossing his gloves to the appreciative fans in attendance. He’s acclimated quickly to SuperBike, so look for him in the lead pack and contending for the wins at Barber.

With his signature #22 once again emblazoned on his Yamaha YZF-R6, Tommy Hayden will feel even more at home in AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike competition--and in more ways than one. Not only is Tommy back on the #22 R6 for the first time in more than a decade, but also, the Kentucky rider will be returning to what he considers his home track. The Barber circuit is not far from Tommy’s home in Owensboro, so the OWB is sure to be well represented by Tommy’s family and friends. Tommy is currently just two points out of third place in the hotly contested DSB Championship, and he is looking to notch his first win of the season at one of his favorite racetracks.

Also looking to get his first win this year in DSB is Tommy’s Yamaha Extended Service/Graves/Yamaha teammate Cameron Beaubier. Cameron got the holeshot in Saturday’s DSB Race 1 at Road America a couple of weeks ago and eventually finished a hard-fought second on his #6 R6. He’s been very much in contention for wins thus far this season, so look for him to be up front at Barber.

Meanwhile, the third member of the Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha team, Garrett Gerloff, will also be in attendance and ready to greet fans, sign posters, and provide his full support of the team. Even though he’s still rehabbing from the broken leg that he suffered at Daytona earlier this season, Garrett has proven to be a complete team player as he’s attended every race this season, while continuing to work hard to get himself healthy and back on his #8 R6.

A favorite event at Barber Motorsports Park is the fan track walk, and Josh Hayes, Josh Herrin, and Tommy Hayden will all be on hand to walk the racecourse and share their insights and anecdotes with fans. It’s the best chance to get up-close and personal with Yamaha’s racing stars as they discuss what it’s like to race professionally and, specifically, on the Barber circuit. The fan track walk is scheduled for Friday evening, so don’t miss it.

There’s nothing like watching motorcycle road racing live and in person, but if you can’t make it to the track, be sure to watch all the action from Barber Motorsports Park on Speed TV. For the exact days and times of the telecasts, check your local listings, or go to for more information.
