DENVER, Colo. (September 2, 2012) - M1 PowerSports and the Historic Moto Grand Prix will once again deliver the much-needed platform for honoring the classic, investment race motorcycles that formed the sport of American motorcycle road racing, and the legendary riders that competed on them, during the inaugural Triumph Big Kahuna New Orleans presented by Dunlop Tire and LeoVince. The Triumph Big Kahuna New Orleans will bring the 2012 GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing season to a close at the all-new NOLA Motorsports Park on the weekend of October 5- 7, 2012. Registration is now open for those interested in the ultra-exclusive opportunity of riding their iconic machines alongside former champions with the exhilarating backdrop of an AMA Pro National.
Two packages for participation in the Historic Moto Grand Prix at the Triumph Big Kahuna New Orleans are now available to those with investment race motorcycles dating from model year 2005 and earlier. There is a basic option for displaying the machine in an exclusive area in the main paddock and a premium option which also offers daily on-track exhibitions for eligible, licensed riders. For complete information, please visit http://www.m1powersports.com/historic-moto-grand-prix or download the Registration Form directly at http://www.m1powersports.com/skin/frontend/moto/default/files/forms/HMGP-2012-NOLA-Registration-Form821.pdf.
"This is going to be a colossal event," said Cameron Gray, CEO of M1 PowerSports. "The increased interest in the Historic Moto Grand Prix has been overwhelming; the Triumph Big Kahuna New Orleans at NOLA Motorsports Park is prime pickings for both former champions and bike owners to show off their piece of America's road racing history."
During the lunch hour each day, participants will have the chance to ride with some of the biggest names in the history of the sport as they are reunited with their vintage machines for a series of on-track exhibition laps. The guest list of AMA Pro Road Racing champions in attendance at Road Atlanta in April included the likes of Jamie James, Scott Russell, David Sadowski, Eric Bostrom, Jason Pridmore, Rich Oliver, Jimmy Filice, Tom Kipp, Thomas Stevens and Roland Sands. Other notables in attendance included Michael Barnes, John Long, Richard Chambers, Henry Degouw, Knobby Clark, Steve Johnson and Jim Leonard.
The Historic Moto Grand Prix Display and Ride package is open to anyone with a CCS/WERA/ARHMA license and costs just $150 for the opportunity to display one bike and ride that on track at least once per day. The machines will be tech inspected and grouped in speed categories to provide an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
For those that would rather keep their prized machines in the paddock, M1 PowerSports is also offering the Historic Moto Grand Prix Display Only package for $50 per machine. If you have a classic, restored investment race motorcycle, this opportunity is simply too good to miss.
