February 14, 2013 - ChiliPepper Racing is pleased to announce “Rapid” Ricky Parker as our featured “guest rider” for the Daytona Bike Week round of the 2013 Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson XR1200 series March 15-17t This class runs in conjunction with GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing and U.S. rounds of MotoGP.
Ricky, the son of two-time World MX champion Trampas Parker, burst onto the 2009 AMA Pro SuperSport scene on the #96 Graves Motorsports Yamaha and took the SuperSport West Championship with wins at Infineon and Laguna Seca. He had several good performances that season including a pole at MidOhio, runner-up at Road Atlanta and a very consistant top-five qualifying average.
Parker went to Europe for 2010 and competed in the Italian SuperSport Championship, getting a taste of racing in Europe. Returning to the US for 2011, he raced select east coast rounds of AMA Pro Supersport and again showed promise, finishing fifth at Road America. Last year was spent developing his family's new motocross training facility in Louisiana. Ricky says he's now ready to “get back in the streetbike saddle again” and is stoked to be featured with chilipepperracing.com.
Pinche' Tacqueria has signed on as the event sponsor for the first round and is providing the team with their acclaimed catering and hospitality. Also making the Daytona entry possible is Horsepower Farm of Austin, TX handling race prep and mechanical support for the team's Harley-Davidson XR1200X. Both of these sponsors are especially happy to be helping get Ricky back on the track at Daytona.
“Ricky is a perfect match for our team's mission. We offer a notable professional racer an invitation to display his/her talent and sportsmanship via the highly-visible Vance and Hines XR1200 series while raising awareness for ACCO.org. He's a talented kid with a story to tell, a good person and this is an opportunity for him to “get back in the mix”, racing a series he's familiar with on a roaring HPF tuned Harley-Davidson - This should be FUN!”
