Lexington, Ohio (July 13, 2013) -- Huntley Nash and Neyra Racing completed their best AMA Pro Superbike race yet at Mid-Ohio on Saturday, equaling the team’s highest Superbike result. Nash finished 13th in the event, in front of some notable Superbike regulars in the 21-lap race with very little attrition.
Nash closed the race out dicing for 12th in America’s premier road racing class, coming home just 0.037 behind a factory machine. In just his third AMA Pro Superbike event, the 21-year old Nash has shown considerable progress on the team’s ambitious Superbike project.
“The race went by really quickly because I was having a lot of fun out there. My goal was to be a couple of spots ahead but I think it was pretty good that we had some battles with a factory bike,” said Nash. “The team changed a lot of things with the bike this morning after what we learned on Friday and it was consistently faster, a half second quicker in the race than qualifying. If we keep going in that direction, we can get closer to the top ten. I was close to the Honda and the KTM and think if we kind find just a little more, we’ll be up there even further.”
Nash improved from his 16th starting position on the 2.4-mile circuit.
“We’re very happy with the progress. Huntley and the crew did a great job and we’re working forward and getting better,” said Neyra Racing’s Justin Neyra. “Hopefully tomorrow we can pick up a couple of more spots and hit our initial goal of the top ten.
Tomorrow’s Superbike race begins at 3 PM local time.
