Monterey, CA. (July 25, 2013) – BP Racing’s Sebastiao Ferreira took a 6th place finish that was hard fought and well earned in the AMA Pro Motorcyle-Superstore.com SuperSport class at the US Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. In addition to Ferreira taking his 6th place finish, BP Racing’s newest SuperSport rider, CJ Weaver, took home an 8th place finish.
Team Owner Mike Hammett: “We had a small issue in the morning free practice and after seven laps had to cut our session short to fix the problem. Once we got the issue fixed and had to qualify with limited track time in the AM session.”
“Cj Weaver had great qualifying times and we are very pleased with the progress coming from both riders.” said Team manager Ken Chewey.
“The weekend started off great! I felt really good coming into Laguna," said Ferreira. It was like I could set the pace and give everyone a run. A problem in the AM session meant my qualifying would be my only real chance to ride the bike. I am very pleased with the bike and team, and will have something for the SuperSport field in Miller. My team worked hard for me as always and I went faster than I did in previous years. I know I will get on the box and continue to score more points in the west championship. I would like to thank everyone for the hard work that was put in.”
CJ Weaver stated “This weekend started off great and I was pleased with the bike and lap times. I would like to thank BP Racing/RedZone racing for all the support they have given me. I was very pleased with the results at Laguna with me getting a 8th place finish and having some great battles on the track. I feel great for Miller and will continue to train hard.”
