Elkhart Lake, WI - June 1, 2014 – In a Sunday SuperBike race fraught with rain at Road America, Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha rider Josh Hayes used his considerable experience and obvious talent to bring his #4 Yamaha YZF-R1 home safe and notch yet another memorable win in Wisconsin. The victory was Josh’s sixth out of the past seven at Road America.

Josh got the holeshot and led the race from the start to the red flag that was the result of the rain-dampened track, and then he took the lead again on the restart and stayed up front all the way to the rain-drenched checkered flag.

After the race, Josh said, “Despite the conditions and circumstances of the race, I’m happy to get this win for my team. With all that rain, those last two laps were the toughest I’ve ever had here at Road America.”

Josh’s teammate Cameron Beaubier also had an eventful race, but it didn’t end quite as well for Cameron as it did for Josh. The SuperBike rookie had a tipover early in the race, and then the contest was red-flagged because of the rain, which enabled Cameron’s crew chief Rick Hobbs and the entire Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha team to work feverishly and get the #2 R1 race-ready for the restart. Cameron rejoined the fray, survived the rain, and ultimately finished 13th, which gave him enough points to retain the lead in the AMA Pro SuperBike Championship.

Meanwhile, the victory by Josh vaulted him up to third place in the standings and just four points out of the lead.

The Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha team will be back in action on June 21-22 for round three of the AMA Pro SuperBike racing season at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL.
