Nick started road racing with the AFM in Northern California in 1986 at the somewhat advanced age of 28, on an oddball variety of European machinery - starting with a 1971 BMW R60/5, followed by a 1975 Moto Guzzi 850T, a 1973 BSA Victor 500, and a 1991 Ducati 907.
In June 1991, Nick swore off road racing after being run-over when he crashed in turn 5 at Infineon, and after getting out of hospital, replaced racing with a career as race team mechanic, crew chief and team owner.
To slate his need for speed, Nick soon started racing dirt bikes, competing in Enduro-type events, and entered several races in Baja including the famed Baja 1000. Nick gave up dirt racing in 2007 because his knees had been completely beaten up, and took up road racing again as a nice safe alternative to dirt.
In 2010, at the age of 52, Nick optimistically entered the AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport race at Infineon Raceway, and was pleased to finish 10th and 11th in the double-header.
Nick competed in all rounds of the 2011 West Coast AMA Pro SuperSport season, which he describes as having the most crashes of his life, but also as the most fun racing season to date - he especially enjoyed racing in the rain at Miller, and the whole Road America experience.
For the 2012 Supersport season, Nick is looking forward to racing at Barber and NOLA for the first time, and continuing his Old Gun run.
Placed 11th in AMA Pro SuperSport West Coast Championship. Includes a personal achievement of qualifying for round 1 in his second session ever on the high-banks of Daytona International Speedway. (53 years old)
